看美国电影容易误解的10个词组

因为这些词和短语容易被误解，期望它能够让大家在看D片少走些弯路。

1．dude（老兄，老哥）

开始时我把它误解为“花花公子, 纨绔子弟”，实际上此词是叫男性年轻人常用的，与guy的意思相同，只是guy用的范围更广。 例子：Hey, dude, look at that girl.(喂，老兄，看那个女孩)

2．chick（女孩）

容易误解为“鸡，妓女”，实际上此词是叫年轻女孩常用的，语气中确实有轻佻、不尊重的含 义。 例子：Look at that chick at the door.(看门口的那个女孩)

        人走路时要用两条腿，左腿迈一步，右腿迈一步，十分轻松就可以往前走，没有任何人会觉得走路费劲（除非是腿脚不好的人）。可如果你让人一条腿走路，另一条腿不动，那他走的那条腿就会十分费劲，只能一蹦一蹦地走，走得慢，还走不了多远。而如果你让他把不动的那条腿彻底定死在地上，只让他另一条腿走路，那么只要定死的这条腿不动，另一条腿就是累死也走不出半步，使得本来很简单的走路变得寸步难行。

        英语听力难以提高，就是这个原因。

 口语很重要，这我也知道。
我有很多学生，昨天一个学生对另一个人说，你将来考一个四级，老板会加你工资吗？不会。你将来能够口语流利交流，你一定可以增加薪水。
我见了很多人，聊了很多方面，对于3级、4级、6级英语的口语较弱的朋友，我觉得有一个关键点没有搞清楚，想提高口语很难。

下面我想谈谈口语学习的一大误区：
想跟老外说话，发现词汇远远不够，这是大家都会碰到的问题。然后就会想去提高词汇量，50%的人想到要去背单词，于是开始记忆词汇。 在这里，想提高词汇量的想法是正确的，但是去背单词是错误的。如果你的第一个行动是这样，你想提高口语很难。

Most people learn over time, but often learning comes too late to be fully useful. There are certainly many things that I know now that would have been extremely useful to me earlier in my life; things that could have saved me from many of the mistakes and hurts I suffered over the years—and most of those that I inflicted on others too.

I don’t buy the romantic notion that my life has been somehow richer or more interesting because of all the times I screwed up; nor that the mistakes were “put” there to help me learn. I made them myself—through ignorance, fear, and a dumb wish to have everyone like me—and life and work would have been less stressful and more enjoyable (and certainly more successful) without them. So here are some of the things I wish I had learned long ago. I hope they may help a few of you avoid the mistakes that I made back then.

Grapefruit, orange and apple juices can harm the body's ability to absorb certain medications and make the drugs less effective, said a Canadian study released last week in the United States.

在马克•吐温的小说《镀金时代》里，最能代表19世纪美国社会场景的两个词莫过于“浮华”和“冠冕堂皇”， 单词highfalutin（浮夸的，爱炫耀的）就是产生于这个“华而不实”的年代，以此批评那些“堂而皇之、自以为是”的暴发户。

从19世纪中叶到20世纪初，美国进入第一次经济大发展时期，大批豪宅相继涌现，官商之间相互勾结……冒险家们对财富的渴求、吹捧和炫耀让这个时代显得躁动无序， highfalutin由此进入美国词汇，表达了公众对暴富者“虚夸”态度的反感。

 词义辨析
